We are seeking an ambitious Junior Micro Space Planner to join our dynamic team based in Fourways, a position ideal for those who want to build their career in retail space planning, merchandising design, and layout optimisation.
Role Overview
As a Junior Micro Space Planner, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and execution of optimised store layouts and merchandising strategies that improve product visibility, maximise space utilisation, and enhance the overall customer shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities
Data Collection and Analysis

Gather and analyse information from multiple teams including market research, supply chain, stores, and suppliers.

Use this data to inform merchandising content, layout strategies, and sales-driven initiatives.
Planogram and Layout Development

Create, update, and maintain planograms, showroom layouts, and supporting materials.

Ensure merchandising aligns with business goals, branding principles, and health and safety standards.

Assist senior planners with designing layouts that improve product visibility and drive sales.
Content Distribution

Distribute all merchandising materials and guidelines to stakeholders across the business.

Ensure consistent, effective implementation of merchandising plans in all store locations.
Collaboration and Innovation

Work closely with cross-functional teams including supply chain, e-commerce, and store operations.

Challenge existing merchandising approaches to continuously improve space utilisation and product placement.

Contribute fresh ideas and insights that drive innovation and improve store performance.
Sales and Performance Analysis

Analyse sales data and customer feedback to assess the effectiveness of merchandising strategies.

Recommend adjustments to layouts and product placements to enhance store performance.
Compliance and Brand Standards

Ensure all store displays adhere to safety standards and brand guidelines.

Maintain consistency of visual merchandising across all store locations.
Qualifications and Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in merchandising, retail management, design, business, or a related field (preferred).

Some experience in retail sales or procurement with a focus on merchandising techniques, preferably gained through internships, projects, or entry-level roles.

Proficiency in merchandising software such as Blue Yonder (JDA), Spaceman, or similar tools is highly desirable.

Knowledge of visual identity, branding principles, and best practices in space planning.

Strong awareness of market trends, retail challenges, and in-store optimisation opportunities.

Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively.
