Role Overview

The Internal Sales Representative plays a key role in maintaining strong relationships with customers, processing orders efficiently, and ensuring that sales and gross profit targets are consistently met. You will be responsible for growing the customer base, ensuring stock availability, and providing outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Revenue Growth

  • Achieve sales and gross profit targets through proactive selling

  • Source stock internally to fulfill customer orders

  • Manage back-order reports and ensure timely delivery of products

  • Drive new business through inbound and outbound sales activities including cold calls and email communication

  • Analyze customer sales history and identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell

  • Maintain pricing in line with company policies

Customer Relationship Management

  • Deliver exceptional service to internal and external customers

  • Resolve customer queries quickly and effectively

  • Provide daily updates on back orders and stock availability

  • Communicate relevant information to customers including pricing, promotions, and product changes

  • Foster strong, lasting relationships to support business growth

Administration and Reporting

  • Prepare quotes, sales orders, and invoices accurately and efficiently

  • Process customer orders timeously and manage stock from other branches where needed

  • Monitor and manage customer credit limits and payments

  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate customer information in the system

  • Communicate effectively with Debtors, Procurement, and Operations teams

SHEQ and Compliance

  • Comply with all health and safety regulations as per OHS Act

  • Participate in company health and safety initiatives

  • Identify and report opportunities for improvement

  • Ensure the sales department complies with hygiene and safety standards

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Grade 12 with at least 1 or 2 relevant short course certifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar Internal Sales Representative role

  • 3 years’ experience within a sales environment

  • Proficient in SAGE/Pastel Evolution or similar systems

  • Basic MS Excel knowledge

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Practical understanding of sales processes and best practices

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Customer-focused with a passion for building relationships

  • Experience in quoting, invoicing, and sales administration
