ROLE OVERVIEW
The Graduate Internship Programme for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) offers unemployed graduates the opportunity to gain real-world, practical experience in IT operations, systems development, and technology support. This 12-month internship, based at the CIPC Sunnyside Office in Pretoria, is ideal for individuals passionate about technology, problem-solving, and innovation.
The internship provides hands-on exposure to ICT functions within a leading South African public institution. Graduates will support key ICT activities, including software development, IT infrastructure maintenance, technical support, and system troubleshooting. The internship presents a valuable platform to develop practical skills and enhance employability in the fast-paced ICT sector.
WHAT IS AN INTERNSHIP?
An internship, as defined by the South African Cabinet in 2002, is a graduate work experience programme targeting unemployed graduates. It offers graduates workplace exposure, skill development opportunities, and practical knowledge necessary to enter the formal workforce.
The CIPC Internship Programme specifically targets:

Unemployed South African graduates with relevant academic qualifications

Individuals with no previous formal work experience

South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 years

Graduates who have never participated in an internship programme
Successful candidates will be required to sign a Graduate Internship Programme Agreement and commit to the full internship period.
KEY REQUIREMENTS

Qualification: National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Information Technology OR National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Software Development

South African citizenship

Age between 18 and 35 years

No previous formal work experience or internship participation

Interest in technology, software development, systems administration, and ICT support

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills

Basic knowledge of ICT systems, networking, and software development is advantageous
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Qualification and citizenship checks will be conducted on successful candidates

Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)

REMUNERATION
