The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) is a statutory body established under the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic). CIPC is responsible for regulating companies, intellectual property, and supporting corporate governance standards across South Africa. In addition to its regulatory functions, CIPC actively contributes to youth development through structured internship programmes that empower graduates with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience.

CIPC’s Human Capital Division plays a vital role in building the organisation’s workforce and developing employee potential. Through this internship opportunity in Learning and Development, CIPC aims to provide graduates with exposure to training, development planning, and organisational learning strategies, laying a solid foundation for a successful career in human resources.

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Graduate Internship Programme for Human Capital (Learning and Development) offers unemployed graduates the opportunity to gain practical, professional experience within the Learning and Development function of CIPC. This 24-month internship is based at the Sunnyside Office in Pretoria and is ideal for individuals passionate about organisational development, employee training, and building future talent pipelines.

Successful candidates will assist with coordinating training programmes, supporting learning initiatives, and contributing to CIPC’s ongoing efforts to upskill and develop its workforce. This hands-on experience provides a unique opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a real-world work environment while contributing to the professional growth of employees within a respected government institution.

WHAT IS AN INTERNSHIP?
An internship, as defined by the South African Cabinet in December 2002, is a public service graduate work experience programme designed to provide unemployed graduates with practical exposure to the workplace. It allows graduates to gain the work-related skills and knowledge they need to successfully transition into the formal workforce.

The CIPC Internship Programme specifically targets:

  • Unemployed South African graduates who have completed qualifications in relevant fields

  • Graduates with no prior formal work experience

  • South African citizens aged 18 to 35 years

  • Graduates who have never participated in any internship programme

Selected candidates will be required to sign a Graduate Internship Programme Agreement and commit to completing the full duration of the internship.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualification: National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Human Resource Management or Human Resource Development

  • South African citizenship

  • Age between 18 and 35 years

  • No prior formal work experience or internship participation

  • Passion for learning and development, organisational development, and employee growth

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills

  • Basic knowledge of training coordination and learning systems will be an advantage

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Qualification and citizenship checks will be conducted on successful candidates

  • Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)

  • Shortlisted candidates must be available for interviews on dates determined by CIPC

REMUNERATION
