The Employee Wellness internship forms part of the Human Capital division and provides a unique opportunity for graduates interested in employee wellbeing, mental health, and workplace support programmes.

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Graduate Internship Programme for Human Capital (Employee Wellness) offers qualified graduates the chance to gain meaningful work experience in employee wellness, occupational health, and psychological support services within the public sector. The internship runs for 24 months, based at the CIPC Sunnyside Office in Pretoria.

Successful candidates will assist in implementing and managing wellness programmes, employee assistance initiatives, and mental health awareness campaigns. The internship is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to workplace wellness practices, allowing graduates to apply their academic knowledge in a professional environment.

WHAT IS AN INTERNSHIP?
An internship, as outlined by the South African Cabinet in December 2002, is a structured workplace programme targeting unemployed graduates. It provides recent graduates with an opportunity to gain relevant work experience, develop professional skills, and prepare for full-time employment in their chosen fields.

The CIPC Internship Programme is specifically aimed at:

  • Unemployed South African graduates with relevant qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, or Industrial Psychology

  • Graduates with no prior work experience

  • South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 years

  • Graduates who have never participated in an internship programme

Successful candidates will be required to sign a Graduate Internship Programme Agreement and commit to the full 24-month period.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Psychology, Social Work, or Industrial Psychology

  • South African citizenship

  • Age between 18 and 35 years

  • No previous formal work experience or internship participation

  • Strong interest in employee wellness, mental health, and workplace support programmes

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills

  • Basic knowledge of employee wellness policies and practices is advantageous

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Qualification and citizenship verification checks will be conducted on successful candidates

  • Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)

  • Candidates must be available for selection interviews on dates determined by CIPC

REMUNERATION
Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R12,000.00, assisting with living expenses during the internship period.
