ROLE OVERVIEW
The Graduate Internship Programme for Human Capital (Employee Relations) offers unemployed graduates the chance to gain practical experience in employee relations, labour law, and human resources management within the public sector. The internship is based at CIPC’s Sunnyside Office in Pretoria and runs for a period of 24 months.

Successful candidates will be involved in supporting various employee relations activities, including assisting with grievance procedures, disciplinary processes, policy implementation, and providing general HR support. The internship will equip graduates with the knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in employee relations or human resources.

WHAT IS AN INTERNSHIP?
An internship is a structured workplace programme designed to give graduates exposure to a professional environment and an opportunity to apply the knowledge gained during their studies. As defined by Cabinet in 2002, this initiative targets unemployed graduates, giving them the chance to acquire practical skills that will enhance their future employability.

The CIPC Graduate Internship Programme targets:

  • Unemployed South African graduates who have completed relevant Labour Relations or Law qualifications

  • Graduates without prior formal work experience

  • Graduates who have never participated in any internship programme

  • Applicants aged between 18 and 35 years

Selected candidates will be required to sign a Graduate Internship Programme Agreement and commit to completing the full internship period.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Labour Relations, Law, or Labour Law

  • South African citizenship

  • Aged between 18 and 35 years

  • No previous formal work experience or participation in an internship programme

  • Interest in employee relations, labour law, and human resources management

  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Qualification and citizenship verification checks will be conducted

  • Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)

  • Shortlisted candidates must be available for interviews on dates determined by CIPC

REMUNERATION
