Role Overview
We are seeking a driven and experienced Assistant Retail Store Manager to support operations at our busy Econo Foods Retail Store located in Germiston, Gauteng. This critical leadership role involves driving sales performance, delivering excellent customer service, overseeing stock management, and ensuring operational efficiency in line with our high standards.

Key Responsibilities

Drive and promote sales through world-class customer service delivery

Maintain outstanding store standards, merchandising, and accurate pricing

Manage stock levels, expiry dates, stock counts, and product condition

Recruit, train, lead, and manage a high-performing team aligned with the company’s Ho Hola Culture

Implement and oversee cash management processes including floats, daily banking, and cashier support

Ensure strict adherence to health, hygiene, and food safety regulations

Analyse sales data, identify opportunities for growth, and implement improvements

Supervise daily store operations including opening, closing, and security

Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders
Qualifications and Experience Required

Grade 12 (Matric) qualification; tertiary qualification is advantageous
-
3-5 years of experience as a Store Manager or Assistant Manager within the FMCG retail sector

Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and delivering exceptional customer service

Comprehensive understanding of retail operations, stock control, and store procedures

Valid driver’s license with access to own transport preferred

Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

Competency in Microsoft Office tools

High attention to detail, organisational ability, and problem-solving skills

Resilience and ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
