Adendorff Machinery Mart’s Edenvale branch is seeking a Retail Shop Assistant to join our dynamic sales team. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in retail operations, stock control, merchandising, and sales within a specialized machinery environment.

JOB OVERVIEW
As a Retail Shop Assistant at Adendorff Machinery Mart, you will be the face of our Edenvale store, assisting customers with product selection, processing sales, and maintaining an organized, well-stocked retail floor. Our ideal candidate is reliable, enthusiastic about learning, and committed to delivering outstanding service on every interaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Engagement & Sales
• Greet customers promptly, understand their needs, and recommend appropriate tools and machinery.
• Demonstrate product features, explain technical specifications, and guide customers through purchase decisions.
• Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, ensuring all payments and documentation are completed efficiently.

Merchandising & Stock Control
• Arrange and display products according to brand standards, ensuring an attractive and logical store layout.
• Conduct daily stock counts, assist with stock takes, and reconcile discrepancies in inventory.
• Monitor stock levels, report low-inventory items, and assist with replenishment to maintain product availability.

Shop Floor Management
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming retail environment by performing daily housekeeping and organizing shelves.
• Assist with receiving deliveries, unpacking, and shelving new products in designated locations.
• Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling based on customer needs and store promotions.

Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
• Participate in daily INVOCOM™ meetings to share insights and propose process improvements.
• Collaborate with colleagues and management to meet branch sales targets and deliver exceptional service.
• Stay up to date with new product launches, industry trends, and technical advancements in power tools and machinery.

QUALIFICATIONS & DESIRED SKILLS
• Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent educational qualification.
• Entry-level experience in retail sales, customer service, or stock control preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
• Excellent numerical ability for accurate processing of sales and stock reconciliation.
• High degree of reliability, integrity, and a team-player attitude.
• Technical knowledge of DIY tools, hardware, or machinery is a significant advantage.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications, including point-of-sale systems and stock management software.

WORKING CONDITIONS & SCHEDULE
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00; Saturday, 08:00–13:00.
• Environment: Indoor retail setting with moderate physical activity, including standing, lifting, and shelving.
• Commitment: Willingness to work overtime during peak periods and participate in product training sessions as required.
