The Durban Briardene branch is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Controller. This is a permanent opportunity ideal for individuals passionate about quality assurance in the automotive space.
Role Overview
The Quality Controller will report directly to the Branch Manager and will play a crucial role in ensuring all vehicles repaired at the panel shop meet stringent internal quality standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of post-repair inspections and ensuring the customer receives a vehicle that is clean, defect-free, and fully operational.
You’ll be a key player in the final approval process, focusing on customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance, while also maintaining workflow efficiency across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and direct employees within the Speed Shop to maintain a steady workflow
Ensure all repairs meet Motus’ high-quality standards before delivery
Perform comprehensive quality checks on every repaired vehicle
Verify that all lights, air conditioning units, and radios are functioning properly
Inspect tyres for correct inflation and tread wear
Check for internal and external cleanliness of the vehicle
Ensure windscreen wipers, windscreen clarity, and engine components meet quality criteria
Conduct radiator pressure tests when required
Confirm that the spare wheel and essential tools are present in the vehicle
Perform a full body and paint inspection to confirm the paintwork is flawless and free from scratches or blemishes
Verify that all repairs are completed within set timelines to reduce rework
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Grade 12 / Matric certificate required
Experience:
2–3 years of experience in a quality control role within an automotive repair, panel beating, or mechanical environment
Licenses and Technical Proficiency:
Valid and unendorsed Code 8 driver’s license
Computer literacy with intermediate proficiency in MS Excel and other standard office tools
Strong understanding of vehicle mechanical and bodywork systems
Skills and Competencies
Exceptional attention to detail and high standards of workmanship
Effective planning and time management capabilities
Proficient in evaluation, monitoring, and reporting quality-related issues
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong ability to work under pressure and independently
