Role Overview
The Intern: Quality Candy will support the Quality Department over a 12-month internship programme. The primary purpose of this internship is to provide real-world, on-the-job experience through a Work Integrated Learning project assigned by a Line Manager. Interns will gain exposure to various quality processes and tools while contributing meaningfully to project outcomes.
This opportunity is tailored for final-year students pursuing a National Diploma in Microbiology, Food Technology, or Food & Consumer Sciences. It is particularly relevant for those who require P1 and P2 industry placement to meet their academic requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Support and participate in quality-related projects within the plant environment
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete Work Integrated Learning projects
Assist in identifying and resolving quality and process-related issues under supervision
Gain understanding of food safety, compliance, and quality systems used in FMCG
Work closely with experienced professionals to understand daily operational demands
Take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities within project timelines
Contribute to problem-solving and process improvement initiatives
Perform administrative and documentation duties as required for quality audits
Minimum Requirements
Educational Background
Currently enrolled in or completed a National Diploma in one of the following fields:
Microbiology
Food Technology
Food & Consumer Sciences
Must require P1 and P2 placement as part of the academic programme
Eligibility Criteria
Must be a South African citizen
Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
Should not have completed more than one year of full-time work in the relevant field
Must have academic transcripts, matric certificate, ID, and a university letter confirming P1/P2 requirements
Must have valid work authorization to work in South Africa
