Position Overview: Finance Manager

As the Finance Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with company policies, improving financial processes, and supporting the General Manager and Executive Team with sound financial advice and reporting. You will play a key role in driving profitability, managing costs, and maintaining financial stability.

Minimum Requirements

• BCom Accounting Degree or Advanced Diploma (Highly advantageous)

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the hospitality industry within 3-star or 4-star properties, ideally in a senior management financial role

• Proven experience in hotel, lodge, or resort financial management

• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and statutory requirements

• High level of numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail

• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and processes effectively

• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines

• A self-motivated, disciplined individual with high integrity and a results-driven approach

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Management

• Prepare and process accurate monthly financial statements for presentation to the General Manager and Director of Finance

• Ensure financial statements adhere to company policies, accounting standards, and statutory requirements

• Provide detailed financial analysis and reports to support strategic decision-making

• Manage the preparation of forecasts and budgets, providing projections for future months and years

• Monitor hotel revenue and expenditure to ensure financial targets are met

• Identify areas for cost savings and operational efficiency improvements

Operational Financial Support

• Work closely with Department Heads, reviewing departmental expenditure and providing financial guidance

• Support operational departments to control costs and enhance profitability

• Ensure all procurement, payment, and financial processes align with company standards and cash flow requirements

• Oversee payroll transactions, verifying accuracy before final processing

• Review and approve all supplier payments, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement

• Maintain effective cash flow management to ensure operational liquidity

Creditors and Debtors Management

• Oversee the management of creditors, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and suppliers are paid on time

• Maximise settlement discounts and ensure applicable rebates are collected

• Monitor and manage the hotel’s debtors book, ensuring timely collection of outstanding amounts

• Assist with problem-solving and resolving overdue account issues

• Maintain accurate creditor and debtor records in line with company policies

Compliance and Controls

• Ensure compliance with all internal financial policies, procedures, and statutory regulations

• Implement strong financial controls to protect company assets and minimise risk

• Conduct regular financial audits and ensure recommendations are actioned

• Work closely with external auditors during annual financial audits

• Maintain proper records and documentation for all financial activities
