Role Overview
Smollan is looking for a Field Manager I in Mahikeng, North West, to lead, coach, and develop a field team in the dynamic Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operational execution, sales target achievement, effective stakeholder management, and optimizing team performance. This is a contract-based position ideal for someone with leadership experience in sales and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence

Identify inefficiencies in field operations and implement improvements

Strategic Execution

Analyze market trends, competitor insights, and internal data

Convert business insights into field strategies and sales action plans

Align operational activities with Smollan’s strategic goals
Team Management & Development

Lead, mentor, and evaluate a high-performing field team

Provide regular training, coaching, and performance feedback

Promote teamwork, discipline, and motivation across all field operations
Stakeholder Engagement

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including retailers and distributors

Ensure consistent communication and alignment on promotions, targets, and strategies
Promotional Execution

Oversee the implementation of promotional campaigns at the retail level

Ensure promotional activities drive brand visibility and customer conversion
-
Maintain compliance with brand and campaign guidelines
Point of Purchase (POP) Management

Manage POP implementation strategies to maximize in-store brand impact
-
Track and ensure POP objectives are met at each retail outlet
Innovation and Continuous Improvement

Stay abreast of the latest merchandising techniques and innovations

Lead the rollout of new practices and technologies within the team
Sales and Target Management

Develop plans to meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets

Analyze performance trends and take corrective actions when necessary
Expense and Resource Management

Monitor operational budgets and optimize resource allocation

Control field costs and maximize ROI across assigned regions
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
-
Educational Requirement: Diploma (NQF Level 5) or higher in Sales, Marketing, Business Management, or a relevant field

Work Experience:

Minimum 2–3 years in FMCG sales at a supervisory or managerial level

Proven record in managing people and sales performance

Driver’s License: Valid Code 8 required
