Role Overview
Smollan is currently recruiting for a Brand Ambassador to be based in Durban, responsible for promoting products and driving sales through strategic in-store engagement and effective marketing tactics. This role is ideal for a dynamic, confident, and sales-oriented individual who thrives in a retail environment and understands the importance of delivering exceptional customer service.
The Brand Ambassador is a key figure in bringing a brand to life in-store, ensuring that promotions are executed flawlessly and that customers are left with a memorable impression of both the product and the company.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales and In-Store Marketing Execution

Promote product awareness, generate interest, and convert foot traffic into purchases

Engage directly with customers to provide information and encourage product trial and loyalty

Implement promotional campaigns in accordance with brand standards

Achieve daily and weekly sell-out targets through effective persuasion and upselling techniques
2. Customer Experience and Service

Provide excellent in-store customer service by addressing queries, offering solutions, and creating positive shopping experiences

Resolve customer concerns efficiently and professionally, promoting return visits and brand loyalty
3. Administrative and Reporting Tasks

Record sales figures and promotional feedback to assist with ongoing performance analysis

Ensure promotional materials and merchandising displays are aligned with campaign requirements
-
Provide regular updates and feedback to line managers and marketing teams
4. Relationship Building

Develop strong working relationships with retail staff and store management to secure prime promotional positioning
-
Represent Smollan and its clients with professionalism at all times, ensuring consistent brand integrity
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
-
Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 (essential)

1–2 years’ experience in sales, retail, or in-store promotions (essential)
Technical and Soft Skills

Strong verbal and written communication

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

Solid understanding of product promotion and category knowledge

Proven selling and persuasion skills

Good planning and prioritisation abilities

Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment

Technologically savvy and familiar with digital tools used in reporting or sales
