At Onrus Manor in Hermanus, Faircape provides restaurant and catering services designed to offer residents both comfort and culinary excellence.

We are now hiring a professional Waiter to join our hospitality team. Preference will be given to candidates residing within the Hermanus area.

Role Overview: Deliver Five-Star Service

The Waiter will be responsible for delivering courteous and attentive service to residents and guests in the dining areas. This includes table setting, food and beverage service, maintaining cleanliness, and upholding high service standards in a healthcare-hospitality environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare dining areas by changing table linen, cleaning cutlery, and arranging settings to meet hospitality standards

• Refill condiment sets and ensure all service items are in good condition

• Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of assigned areas throughout service periods

• Take and serve food and beverage orders with professionalism and attention to detail

• Provide knowledgeable recommendations based on menu offerings

• Respond to resident queries and complaints politely and promptly, reporting issues to management

• Assist with daily and monthly inventory audits, reporting any shortages or breakages

• Support restocking of bar supplies and assist with basic bar service if needed

• Ensure accurate billing and report discrepancies to supervisors

• Maintain personal hygiene and uniform standards in line with brand guidelines

• Be willing to assist with special functions or private events outside of normal working hours

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience as a Waiter in a formal dining or hospitality setting

• Bartending and/or barista experience is a strong advantage

• Good knowledge of serving etiquette and basic wine knowledge

• Strong ability to work in a team-oriented and guest-focused environment

Working Conditions

• Shifts: 16.25 shifts per month, including weekends and holidays

• Hours: Monday to Sunday from 07h00 to 19h00, according to roster

• Must be available to work public holidays (paid at double rate) and Sundays (time-and-a-half rate)

• Occasional overtime for private events

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive salary package based on qualifications and experience

• Quarterly performance bonuses (discretionary, based on individual and company performance)

• Holiday compensation:

  • Sundays remunerated at time and a half

  • Public holidays paid at double rate
