EXPERIENCED SENIOR CASHIER WANTED FOR DIS-CHEM PHARMACIES
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a reliable and experienced Senior Cashier to join the team at the Willowbridge store in Tygervalley, Cape Town. This role is critical in ensuring an outstanding customer experience at the point of sale while maintaining accurate financial transactions and minimizing fraud risk.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver exceptional customer service by establishing professional relationships with customers

Accurately record customer transactions using the Dis-Chem operating system, adhering strictly to policies and procedures

Manage cash flow, ensuring all cash handling complies with Dis-Chem’s SOPs
-
Process payments across various modes including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and loyalty cards such as Discovery Health Care, Momentum Multiply, and ABSA Rewards

Ensure all voids, price changes, and returns are approved and properly documented
-
Maintain a safe and secure cash environment, including placing cash in drop safes and protecting your password and login credentials

Monitor and report suspicious behaviour or discrepancies immediately to management
-
Support sales initiatives by being aware of ongoing promotions and adhering to customer turnover rates

Uphold Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication and security principles

Handle daily takings confidentially and professionally

Assist customers with merchandise queries and exchanges as authorized
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 / Matric certificate
-
At least 3 years’ cashier or till operations experience

Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken

Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office

Sound numerical aptitude

Basic customer service skills

Willingness and ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
KEY COMPETENCIES

In-depth understanding of cash register operations and cash drawer management

Accuracy and attention to detail in processing sales and refunds

Emotional intelligence and social awareness to handle customer interactions effectively

Accountability, honesty, and trustworthiness in handling cash and sensitive data

Ability to analyze basic reports and resolve problems efficiently

Professional presentation and excellent time management skills
ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS

Proficiency in a third additional language

Knowledge of retail security measures
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
