As we continue to scale across the country, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee and lead our Distribution Centre in Durban. This pivotal role is central to ensuring the seamless flow of goods, optimal warehouse operations, and reliable store deliveries across our network.
Role Overview: Operations Manager
As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all Distribution Centre (DC) operations, ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, dispatch, and delivery of goods. You will report directly to the DC Manager and oversee a team of supervisors, controllers, and warehouse staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong operational background in warehouse and transport management, hands-on leadership experience, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience

Grade 12 (Matric) with a tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
-
Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse or logistics operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role

Proven experience managing high-volume distribution centres handling 3,000+ pallets

Sound understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Excel

Experience with audit processes, food safety regulations (HACCP), and health and safety protocols
-
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
Core Responsibilities

Oversee full end-to-end warehouse operations, including goods receiving, inventory storage, order picking, dispatching, and returns

Manage transport logistics, vehicle scheduling, and route planning to optimize delivery to stores and customers

Ensure adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement effective cost control strategies

Supervise and mentor warehouse teams to meet daily operational targets
-
Enforce compliance with health and safety, ISO, HACCP, and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Drive stock accuracy through efficient stock control practices including cycle counts, shrinkage control, and expiry date management
-
Promote continuous improvement initiatives, targeting cost savings, waste reduction, and enhanced efficiency

Collaborate with HR on industrial relations (IR), employee relations (ER), and performance management
-
Ensure all internal and external audit requirements are met and maintain accurate records and reporting systems

Manage DC budget, warehouse equipment maintenance, and asset control measures
