ROLE OVERVIEW

Are you an experienced logistics sales professional with a strong track record in key account management? DSV is looking for a highly driven Key Account Manager to join its Road Logistics team in Kempton Park. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee major customer accounts, grow existing business, onboard new clients, and ensure seamless coordination across operational, IT, HR, and finance functions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of key accounts, ensuring retention and satisfaction

  • Conduct customer health checks and account review meetings for strategic, large, and medium clients

  • Identify, record, and act on upselling opportunities and scope of work expansions

  • Track sales pipeline activity, ensuring opportunities move through the funnel as planned

  • Drive customer satisfaction with on-time issue resolution via DSV’s CSP system

  • Proactively escalate service delivery issues, managing internal communication with relevant departments

  • Monitor accounts receivable (DSO) and ensure clients pay within agreed terms, escalating delays where necessary

  • Protect at-risk clients through a defined account management plan

  • Regularly review unprofitable customers and implement corrective action

  • Obtain at least one client referral per month

  • Analyze up-trade and down-trade trends to address revenue variances with data-driven insights

  • Maintain accurate client data, rate cards, and ensure timely annual rate adjustments

  • Attend regular sales and product training and apply learnings to improve service delivery

  • Update and execute Client Account Plans (CAP) quarterly for top-tier clients

  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to implement and manage IT-driven logistics solutions

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of sales experience, with 3 years in logistics or solution selling

  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle

  • Willingness to work overtime and travel nationally when required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Matric certificate is essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Business Management, or a related field is advantageous

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (Advanced proficiency required)

  • Familiarity with CRM systems and data management tools

  • Understanding of logistics solutions, customer implementations, and IT-driven processes
