ROLE OVERVIEW

DSV seeks a results-oriented Branch Manager to head up operations at its George branch, focusing on road logistics. This high-impact role will involve managing the entire branch’s operations, including sales, service delivery, financial performance, compliance, and team leadership. The ideal candidate should have solid logistics industry experience, a deep understanding of performance metrics, and the ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholder relationships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the branch to meet performance, productivity, and financial targets

  • Manage and develop staff, ensuring high morale and optimal performance

  • Align branch activities with organizational goals and service catalogues

  • Drive operational efficiency, cost control, and continuous improvement

  • Oversee all aspects of client relationship management, ensuring satisfaction and retention

  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and external legal regulations

  • Maintain accurate budgeting and forecasting for branch financial planning

  • Conduct performance analysis, risk assessments, and corrective planning

  • Liaise with shared functions (HR, Finance, Sales, QSHE) to ensure full integration and support

  • Handle fleet and vehicle management, ensuring safety, legal compliance, and cost control

  • Respond to and resolve client complaints, delays, and service failures

  • Implement and support Quality, Safety, Health & Environmental (QSHE) systems

  • Oversee branch audits, internal reporting, and administrative compliance

  • Monitor and review branch P&L statements, identifying variances and cost trends

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a logistics or courier environment in a management role

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) – Intermediate to Advanced

  • Proven skills in:

    • Sales and operational strategy

    • HR and Industrial Relations (IR)

    • Financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting

    • Client and team management

  • Matric essential; B.Com in Transport or Logistics advantageous

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Labour Relations Act (LRA) and Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)

  • Valid Code 8 driver’s license and own transport

  • Willingness to travel and work beyond standard office hours as required
