As part of its commitment to technical excellence, Tsebo is seeking to register qualified candidates for a Talent Pool for the position of Electrician based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This opportunity is suited for a skilled trade professional eager to contribute to large-scale, mission-critical facilities maintenance operations.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Electrician will be responsible for performing and, when required, supervising a wide range of electrical installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance services across Tsebo-managed properties. Duties include the daily execution of reactive and preventative maintenance, electrical compliance inspections, system audits, and client service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Maintenance and Repairs

Respond to job schedules from the helpdesk and ensure daily task completion

Conduct electrical installations, maintenance, and fault-finding for wiring, lighting, circuit breakers, transformers, and conduits

Carry out system diagnostics and troubleshoot faults to full resolution

Repair or replace faulty wiring and ensure safe electrical practices
-
Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems, machinery, and tools
Installation and Compliance

Install conduits and run wiring to power switches, relays, and breaker panels

Conduct safety testing and performance checks on new installations
-
Ensure compliance with OHS regulations, electrical codes, and Tsebo internal standards

Maintain accurate records for inspections, testing, and installations
System Management and Supervision

Oversee or assist with junior staff and subcontractors during site work

Supervise safety checks, PPE usage, and equipment handling practices
-
Monitor tool inventory and store components according to SOPs
-
Provide training support or technical guidance on escalated issues
Stakeholder Engagement

Provide feedback to internal clients on job status and completion
-
Engage with suppliers and contractors to coordinate delivery and execution
-
Report any technical anomalies or security and safety concerns to management
Administrative Duties

Maintain accurate records of work orders, service reports, and compliance checklists

Complete job cards and provide documentation required for billing or auditing purposes

Participate in scheduled shutdowns and communicate downtime notices
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
-
Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and health and safety legislation
-
Able to prioritise multiple jobs, especially in a fast-paced facilities management environment

Competent in the use of power tools, meters, diagnostic equipment, and safety gear
-
Practical knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and safety audits
-
Clear communication skills and ability to guide subordinates or external service providers

Attention to detail, client orientation, and problem-solving ability
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Matric (Grade 12)

Trade Test Certificate or 2-Year Diploma in Electrical Engineering

Valid Wireman’s License is mandatory

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in electrical repairs and maintenance
-
Previous supervisory experience will be advantageous

Experience in large-scale or corporate facility environments preferred
