ROLE OVERVIEW
The Business Analyst – Finance will be a key player in SPAR’s strategic modernization initiatives, especially in relation to the SAP S/4HANA platform. This individual will serve as a bridge between finance stakeholders and the IT department to ensure solutions are aligned with business objectives. The role demands a seasoned finance-savvy analyst who understands retail operations and has a clear grasp of financial modules in SAP.
Ideal for a candidate with a strong background in business process mapping, data interpretation, and SAP implementation support, this role offers a chance to contribute meaningfully to long-term improvements in operational efficiency and financial visibility across the group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Process Improvement and Analysis

Identify process improvement opportunities within the finance domain across all SPAR Southern African regions

Collaborate with stakeholders to drive consensus on financial strategies and changes

Gather, document, and validate business requirements and convert them into system specifications
SAP S/4HANA Financial Integration

Lead or support SAP modernization projects by serving as a subject matter expert in SAP S/4HANA Finance
-
Create detailed process documentation using SAP Solution Manager

Map out end-to-end workflows including AP, AR, GL, and Asset Management
Solution Design and Delivery

Translate business needs into functional specifications for technical teams

Define and execute functional test cases to validate system functionality

Assist in the handover to rollout teams for implementation at additional locations

Support operational technical teams with post-deployment inquiries and refinement
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

Engage with finance and IT stakeholders to align priorities, manage expectations, and provide updates

Present insights, documentation, and recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional teams
Ad Hoc Support

Deliver high-level financial insights to support business decisions

Take on additional duties as required by management, particularly those that improve systems or processes
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, with specialisation in Finance or equivalent discipline
Professional Experience
-
At least 5 years’ experience in a Business Analyst or related role within retail or supply chain

Demonstrated experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance, including AP, AR, GL, and Assets modules
-
Exposure to SAP Solution Manager and experience in structured project environments

Familiarity with agile project management methodologies is an advantage
