Role Overview

G4S Cash Solutions South Africa is looking for an experienced and highly dependable Radio Controller to join its Johannesburg-based team. This key operational role is tasked with ensuring secure, efficient, and on-time coordination of vehicle crews and services throughout the region. Reporting directly to the Assistant Branch Manager, the Radio Controller plays a pivotal part in facilitating safe logistics, efficient route planning, and responsive communication with the field teams.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates with solid experience in control room operations, cash-in-transit procedures, and a strong commitment to ensuring service reliability and crew safety across the fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain real-time radio and telephonic communication with all CIT vehicle crews

  • Accurately track and log all vehicle movements, including unscheduled events and blind spots

  • Ensure use of correct radio codes and emergency protocols by all staff

  • Brief new road crew on route details, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety standards

  • Respond promptly to operational issues, schedule changes, or client service deviations

  • Record and manage client complaints, submitting reports for resolution

  • Maintain the code book, updating it with new and terminated clients

  • Liaise with the box room controller on all pre-list requirements and alterations

  • Coordinate with counting house supervisor for route and priority planning

  • Collaborate with other branches during emergencies or reroutes

  • Maintain up-to-date emergency contact records and area maps for fast reference

  • Support management with accident or incident reports and logistical adjustments

  • Execute any additional duties as delegated by management

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric Certificate / Grade 12

  • PSIRA Grade A registration (valid and up to date)

  • CIT Competency certification (essential)

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in CIT operations preferred

  • Proven control room or dispatch experience is highly advantageous

  • No criminal record or adverse credit listings (ITC)

  • Valid Code 10 Driver’s License with PDP is advantageous

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong command of English and excellent communication skills

  • Advanced computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing schedules or emergencies

  • Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and precision in maintaining logs and reports

  • Reliable, disciplined, and capable of maintaining confidentiality and composure in high-stress situations
