ROLE OVERVIEW

SAB is seeking a reliable and skilled Packaging Operator to join its high-performing team at the Rosslyn Brewery. This position is central to maintaining packaging line performance and ensuring the highest levels of product quality, safety, and productivity. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining both manual and automatic packaging equipment, executing shift plans, and ensuring adherence to process control standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Packaging Line Operations:

    • Operate both manual and automated machinery according to SOPs.

    • Manage associated packaging processes to meet productivity and quality targets.

    • Monitor line performance and resolve basic equipment-related issues in real-time.

  • Production Execution:

    • Interpret and implement the shift production plan effectively.

    • Track and document production data using systems such as PIMS, POMS, MES, and AB Reports.

    • Conduct downtime acknowledgment and log root causes to prevent recurrence.

  • Process & Quality Assurance:

    • Perform in-line quality checks and implement corrective measures as needed.

    • Contribute to the tracking of key performance indicators and support continuous improvement.

    • Conduct process audits, complete OFRs, and escalate anomalies promptly.

  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment by following 5S principles.

    • Identify and raise SIOs (Safety Improvement Opportunities) as part of ongoing safety initiatives.

    • Adhere to safety protocols, including SAM and LOTOTO procedures.

  • Reporting & Administration:

    • Perform routine administrative tasks including logging operational data.

    • Participate in packaging-related investigations and provide input for reports.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) is required

  • Post-Matric Qualification (e.g., N4, National Diploma) is preferred

  • Technical background is essential (mechanical or electrical)

  • IOB Certificate is an added advantage

  • Minimum of 9 months on-the-job training with completion of SKAP within 12 months

  • Experience in a Packaging FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment
