We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HR Clerk to join our soon-to-be-launched Tongaat Distribution Centre, opening in July 2025.
ROLE OVERVIEW
As the HR Clerk – Tongaat DC, you will be responsible for supporting the HR Officer and Recruitment Officer with critical administrative functions related to time & attendance, payroll liaison, and recruitment. This role is essential for ensuring HR operations run smoothly and efficiently in the new distribution centre. If you have a strong eye for detail, organizational abilities, and a passion for people processes, this role could be your next step in HR.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Time & Attendance Management:

Ensure accurate recording of daily staff attendance, overtime, leave, and timekeeping reports.

Maintain and monitor clocking machines, identifying and addressing faults or anomalies.

Compile attendance and absenteeism data for HR and operational use.
Payroll and HR Liaison:

Serve as the key communication point between the Tongaat Distribution Centre and Head Office.

Submit timely payroll inputs, including new hires, terminations, transfers, and unpaid leave data.

Ensure compliance with HR policies and accurate data flow for payroll processing.
Recruitment Support:

Assist in tracking staff movements and maintaining accurate staff structures.

Collaborate with the HR team to fill vacancies due to terminations, absenteeism, or expansion.

Support onboarding and maintain comprehensive employee records and files.
General HR Administration:

Respond to HR queries from employees with professionalism and discretion.

Keep personnel files up to date and organized.

Provide administrative support to the HR Officer and contribute to team-based HR initiatives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 is required.

A Higher Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Human Resources is preferred.

Prior experience in HR, payroll, or recruitment will be an added advantage.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.

Familiarity with PRP systems or other time & attendance software is beneficial.

Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.

Sound knowledge of HR policies, including leave and attendance regulations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

A team player with strong ethical standards and a proactive attitude.
