ROLE OVERVIEW
SAB is currently seeking a highly analytical and experienced Financial Controller to join its Business Services team based at HQ Sandton. This role will focus on overseeing the integrity of financial information, optimizing working capital processes, and ensuring the accurate governance and reporting of all balance sheet elements. The successful candidate will support operational excellence and enable high-level decision-making by ensuring strong financial controls and compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Governance & Compliance:
-
Ensure full compliance with internal financial policies and global accounting standards.

Lead the review, preparation, and release of journal entries including accruals, sundry debtors, inter-depot claims, and third-party payments.

Maintain documentation to support MICS (Management Internal Control Standards) and SOX compliance.

Balance Sheet Oversight:

Review and investigate all balance sheet accounts to ensure the validity and accuracy of transactions.

Analyze and manage the health of accounts, including aging analysis and identifying anomalies such as debit balances in credit accounts.

Prepare monthly balance sheet commentaries and presentations for Business Unit Directors.

Working Capital & Cash Flow Management:

Monitor and evaluate the impact of margin performance on working capital elements.

Engage cross-functionally to improve the performance and accuracy of working capital data.

Develop and present cash flow forecasts and long-term estimates (LE) related to balance sheet activity.

Process Improvement & Collaboration:

Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance financial processes across the business service centre.

Offer technical accounting support to the zone and serve as a key advisor on financial controls.

Drive alignment across business functions to ensure seamless financial reporting and efficient working capital cycles.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)

Postgraduate qualification (preferred)

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a financial controller or similar role, preferably within the FMCG sector

Sound working knowledge of financial systems and corporate governance frameworks
