ROLE OVERVIEW

SAB is seeking a detail-oriented Data Capture Clerk to join the engineering team at its Newlands Brewery site. This role is pivotal in supporting the maintenance team through accurate data entry, timely reporting, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the maintenance planning process by capturing job card data, tracking performance metrics, and supporting continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data Entry and Maintenance Support:

    • Accurately capture maintenance-related data from job cards into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

    • Support the Engineering Planner with job prioritization and scheduling.

    • Process and close completed maintenance job cards timeously.

  • Performance Reporting and Analysis:

    • Run, extract, and distribute reports on maintenance KPIs and downtime trends.

    • Ensure timely and correct reporting of engineering metrics to support decision-making and VPO initiatives.

  • Team Collaboration and Communication:

    • Liaise with engineers, planners, and maintenance teams to collect job updates.

    • Provide administrative assistance in updating SOPs, SWIs, and other engineering documentation.

  • Visual Management and Workplace Efficiency:

    • Maintain accurate and relevant visual displays of performance data.

    • Apply 5S principles to ensure a well-organized and safe data capturing workspace.

  • System and Data Integrity:

    • Validate all captured data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

    • Minimize backlog of data entry tasks and ensure real-time system updates.

KEY ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES

  • High attention to detail and numerical accuracy

  • Strong computer skills, especially in MS Office and data management systems

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Organized, efficient, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to handle pressure and meet tight deadlines

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate

  • 3–6 months of on-the-job training in a technical or maintenance environment

  • At least 1 year of experience in a data capturing or administrative support role

  • Computer literacy is essential, with MS Office proficiency required; CMMS experience is a strong advantage
