ROLE OVERVIEW

QPro Feeds is seeking a Boilermaker Assistant to join its engineering team in Bethlehem, Free State. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with mechanical aptitude and a passion for metalwork to grow within the boilermaking and fabrication industry. As an assistant, you will work closely under skilled boilermakers, performing supportive tasks in the manufacturing and installation of metal structures and components.

This is an ideal stepping stone for candidates seeking to develop technical trade skills in a dynamic and growth-oriented company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist boilermakers in fabricating, assembling, and installing boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels

• Use hand and power tools (e.g., grinders, cutters, drills) safely and effectively

• Cut, grind, weld, and fit metal components under supervision

• Perform minor welding, tacking, and fitting of metal parts

• Clean and maintain tools, machinery, and work areas to ensure operational efficiency

• Hold or position metal parts during welding and assembly tasks

• Assist with project planning, reporting, and documentation

• Conduct quality checks on assembled parts to identify defects or leaks

• Maintain inventory of materials and notify supervisor of shortages

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the boilermaker or supervisor

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification

• Technical training or apprenticeship in metal fabrication or welding is advantageous

• Minimum of 12 months’ experience in a mechanical, fabrication, or construction environment

• Valid South African driver’s license and access to reliable transport

• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all site protocols
