Role Overview
We are seeking a Backend Software Developer with 3+ years of experience to join our Somerset West team. This role will play a crucial part in building high-performance backend systems using Node.js (TypeScript) and C# (.NET Core). You’ll contribute to building scalable APIs, integrating external services, and optimizing back-end architectures for speed, security, and maintainability.
As part of a collaborative development team, you’ll work with frontend engineers, project managers, and QA specialists to deliver powerful digital solutions that serve high-impact brands.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs for web and mobile platforms

Implement integrations with third-party APIs and ERP systems

Deploy backend services to cloud environments (Google Cloud or AWS)

Design and optimize database structures using PostgreSQL, SQL, Supabase, and Firebase

Create clean, modular services using Clean Architecture and SOLID principles

Manage job queues, background workers, and batch processors for data-intensive tasks

Monitor and debug applications using tools like Sentry and Google Cloud Logging

Collaborate closely with front-end developers to ensure smooth system interoperability

Participate in code reviews, sprints, and agile planning processes
Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in backend development

Proficient in Node.js with TypeScript

Experience building APIs and service layers in C# and .NET Core

Strong understanding of RESTful principles and asynchronous programming

Proven experience with API design and integration

Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases

Competent in Git, GitHub workflows, and version control best practices

Good understanding of cloud platforms (GCP or AWS)

Strong debugging, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
