The Plattekloof franchise is currently seeking a proactive and experienced Store Manager to lead its operations and drive business growth through strategic execution and operational excellence.
Role Overview
The Store Manager is accountable for the overall management of the store, ensuring daily operational efficiency, maximizing profitability, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be responsible for sales management, staff leadership, inventory control, merchandising, health and safety compliance, and customer engagement. This role demands a results-oriented leader who can make data-driven decisions and inspire their team to achieve consistent performance aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Achieve and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets

Effectively manage and motivate the store team to meet performance goals

Identify and implement ways to improve efficiency and increase revenue

Complete accurate and timely quotations for large clients and key accounts

Monitor and manage stock levels, including ordering and loss prevention

Analyse sales data and trends to forecast and drive strategic planning
-
Manage supply and demand logistics across multiple product categories
-
Conduct staff interviews, performance reviews, and chair disciplinary actions

Submit all HR-related documentation, including attendance and leave reports, to Head Office

Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and customer service standards

Respond to customer complaints and queries in a professional and timely manner

Lead in-store promotions, product displays, and special marketing events

Regularly walk the sales floor to identify and resolve operational issues

Attend and chair store management meetings and report on business performance
-
Prepare a SWOT analysis report for the CEO to present at board meetings

Stay informed of market trends and competitor activity to enhance strategic decisions

Identify and pursue new business development opportunities
-
Participate in perpetual stock takes and ensure inventory accuracy

Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and engage new vendor opportunities

Ensure that all store areas meet high standards of cleanliness and organization

Perform any other duties assigned by upper management
Qualifications and Experience

Matric certificate (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
-
A relevant tertiary qualification (Higher Certificate, Diploma, or Degree)

Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in retail management
-
At least 5 years of experience in the hardware or retail industry

Own reliable transport with a valid driver’s license

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced environment

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)

Broad department and product knowledge across all store areas

Familiarity with Health and Safety (OHSA) legislation and practices

Exceptional HR management and team leadership skills

Well-developed analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities

Strong numerical skills and financial acumen
