Role Overview

RCL Foods is seeking high-performing graduates to join its Management Trainee Programme: Electrical Engineering in Gauteng, with potential rotations across South Africa. This programme is tailored for Electrical Engineering graduates who are passionate about energy systems, automation, maintenance, and plant optimization.

The Electrical Engineering stream offers a comprehensive 4 to 5-year developmental journey where trainees gain real-world exposure to plant operations, electrical infrastructure, and technical projects in a manufacturing setting. You will receive structured training, mentorship, and leadership development—all while playing a direct role in optimizing production processes and implementing innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in critical electrical engineering projects within manufacturing sites

  • Contribute to the maintenance, automation, and performance optimization of production systems

  • Apply technical knowledge to troubleshoot, resolve, and prevent electrical faults and inefficiencies

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior engineers to drive continuous improvement

  • Lead and present progress on assigned projects and improvement initiatives

  • Engage in structured personal development plans including training sessions, mentorship, and coaching

  • Gain experience in operations, compliance, energy efficiency, and electrical safety practices

  • Embrace a willingness to relocate across different sites or provinces as part of your growth path

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Final-year students or graduates with a completed B.Eng / B.Sc Eng / BTech in Electrical Engineering

  • South African citizen or permanent resident

  • Excellent academic results, particularly in core 2nd and 3rd-year subjects

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Possession of a valid South African driver’s license is advantageous

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated passion for electrical systems and innovation in an FMCG environment
