Role Overview
Are you an aspiring retail leader with a strong customer orientation? Do you thrive in fast-paced, service-driven environments? Clicks Jubilee Mall in Gauteng is currently recruiting an Assistant Store Manager who will work closely with the Store Manager to support the daily operations of the store. This role is ideal for someone who can drive sales, promote customer satisfaction, and contribute to operational excellence while developing their management skills in the FMCG and retail sector.
Key Responsibilities

Achieve sales and profitability targets by implementing promotional campaigns, ensuring upselling, and delivering superior customer service across all departments.

Oversee daily operations such as stock management, expense control, shrinkage prevention, and general administration and housekeeping.

Support visual merchandising by maintaining a consistent in-store presentation aligned with Clicks’ brand image and promotional strategies.

Lead and motivate store staff to reach individual and team performance goals while stepping in to manage the store during the Store Manager’s absence.

Assist with the creation and management of the daily staff work schedule, ensuring compliance with labour policies and optimal staffing levels across all departments.

Implement customer engagement initiatives that enhance the shopping experience and increase participation in loyalty programs such as the Clicks ClubCard.

Maintain accurate administrative records, including employee attendance, HR submissions, and scheduling data.

Act as a brand ambassador by embracing Clicks’ values and supporting its vision to be South Africa’s leading health and beauty retailer.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements:
-
Matric / Grade 12 (with at least 50% in Maths and English)

Relevant Retail or Business Management qualification (External applicants)
Preferred:
-
Degree in Retail or Business Management
-
Completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme
Experience:
-
At least 1 year in a similar role within a retail or FMCG environment

Financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and profit & loss management
Skills and Abilities

In-depth understanding of financial management principles and store operations

Retail/FMCG knowledge, including product merchandising, promotion strategies, and stock control

Familiarity with labour legislation, employee relations, and performance management

Strong customer orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Proven problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities

Numeracy and computer literacy skills, including use of POS systems and MS Office

Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple priorities efficiently
