Role Overview
The Toolstore Assistant will play a critical support role within FlySafair’s Supply Chain Department, ensuring that the airline’s technical teams have access to calibrated, serviceable tools and equipment at all times. This position requires meticulous organization, problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-paced, safety-sensitive aviation environment.
Reporting to the Manager: Supply Chain, the successful candidates will help maintain tool availability, ensure proper storage, support inventory management, and assist with internal and external tool requests.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain and update all systems related to the tool store

Resolve queries and discrepancies related to tools and consumables
-
Ensure all tools, consumables, and storage shelves are clearly labelled
-
Provide counter service to technicians requesting tools
-
Process and plan for outstation tool requests and replacements
-
Log and correctly store returned tools, maintaining accurate records
-
Conduct regular daily, weekly, and monthly stock checks
-
Assist with planning tool replacements during calibrations or repairs
-
Monitor and manage tools requiring recalibration to maintain readiness
-
Maintain stock levels of consumables and ensure uninterrupted availability

Perform monthly inspections on GSE (Ground Support Equipment) and report faults

Flag unserviceable tools and GSE for immediate maintenance

Ensure tool store cleanliness and strict access control

Generate and submit reports in line with Work Instruction protocols
Qualifications and Experience
-
Matric / Grade 12 – Essential
-
1–2 years’ warehousing or tool management experience – Essential
-
Dangerous goods handling and aircraft spares packing – Advantageous
-
ERP system experience (e.g., SAM or equivalent) – Advantageous
-
Must be physically fit and able to handle aircraft tooling and equipment
-
Willing to work overtime and 24-hour shifts – Essential

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
