Purpose of the Role
The Specialist: Business Analysis, reporting to the Manager of Business Analytics and Continuous Improvement, plays a critical role in analyzing business outcomes and reporting insights that enhance the RAF’s operational efficiency. This position focuses on leveraging data analytics and business process improvements to support informed decision-making and organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Review and Implementation

Support the development and ongoing refinement of departmental policies, procedures, and processes.

Stay updated with best practices and emerging trends in policy execution to ensure effective implementation across business units.
Business Analysis and Reporting

Analyze business data related to RAF operations, identifying trends and recommending actionable improvements for enhanced performance.

Maintain and optimize data collection systems across various business units to ensure data quality and statistical accuracy.

Use advanced analytical tools and methodologies to propose system enhancements and process optimizations.

Conduct research and provide business solutions grounded in data insights and market advancements.

Alert Senior Business Analysts to any irregularities or discrepancies found during analysis.
Business Process Improvement

Apply continuous improvement tools and techniques to optimize RAF business processes.

Develop and maintain process documentation, including flow diagrams and process maps, for redesigned workflows.

Collaborate with systems developers to ensure technical solutions align with optimized business processes and user requirements.

Perform detailed assessments of business processes to weigh costs, benefits, and risks associated with proposed improvements.
Reporting

Assist in developing and maintaining management, project, and performance reporting systems.

Prepare regular and ad hoc reports to update managers on progress, outcomes, and operational performance.

Create clear, compelling presentations, proposals, and briefing documents to support management decision-making.
Stakeholder Management

Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and service delivery.

Address inquiries and requests for information in a timely and professional manner.

Support procurement and vendor management activities to ensure accurate invoicing and payment processing.

Present complex data findings in accessible formats to ensure clarity and stakeholder understanding.
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Information Systems, Business Analysis, Business Management, Data Modelling, Statistics, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in a business analysis environment, preferably within a large organization or public sector.

Employment Conditions
The RAF offers a total employment cost package with no additional employer contributions. Candidates must structure their package to suit their individual needs. Security vetting will be conducted on all prospective employees. Foreign qualifications require evaluation by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
