Role Overview

We are currently seeking a Barista to join our Distribution Centre team based in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone passionate about coffee, people, and exceptional customer service. As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality beverages while upholding the highest standards of cleanliness, consistency, and professionalism in a staff-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a wide variety of hot beverages including espressos, cappuccinos, teas, and specialty drinks

  • Maintain top-tier hygiene and cleanliness in all coffee preparation and serving areas

  • Ensure consistency in drink quality by strictly adhering to Pedros’ beverage preparation standards and recipes

  • Deliver outstanding service with a friendly, approachable, and professional attitude to internal staff and guests

  • Manage inventory levels for coffee supplies and ensure timely communication for restocking

  • Operate espresso machines, coffee grinders, and other barista equipment effectively and safely

  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of coffee equipment

  • Report any malfunctioning or damaged equipment promptly to the Facilities or Kitchen Supervisor

  • Adhere to all relevant health, food safety, and hygiene regulations in the preparation and serving of beverages

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12)

  • 1–2 years of experience in a barista or similar coffee service role preferred

  • Proven ability to operate commercial espresso machines and grinders

  • A basic understanding of food hygiene principles or a hygiene certification (advantageous)

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for delivering high-quality service

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment

  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible with work schedules
