Based in Johannesburg, the airline is expanding its leadership team and is looking for an experienced and dynamic Airport Operations Coordinator to oversee and enhance airport service delivery and operational excellence across various stations.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Manager: Airport Operations and the Base Manager, the Airport Operations Coordinator will serve as a key liaison between FlySafair and its airport service providers. This role requires strategic oversight of operational policies, staff training, service quality, and coordination of ground operations across multiple airports, ensuring strict compliance with the Passenger Services Manual (PSM) and industry standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passenger service or duty manager with at least 3 years of experience to lead process improvements, manage quality standards, and ensure seamless passenger experiences across the airline’s network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all FlySafair airport operations comply with Passenger Services Manual (PSM) policies and procedures

  • Assist with PSM updates and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Monitor and schedule training for airport stations and call centre staff

  • Maintain accurate training files and matrices for all relevant personnel

  • Conduct monthly station visits and provide detailed service feedback

  • Oversee and support new station start-ups and initial operations

  • Perform quality audits of passenger services and ensure corrective actions are implemented

  • Evaluate and ensure ground handler staff compliance with SOPs

  • Attend and contribute to monthly ground handling and internal meetings

  • Analyse incidents to propose operational improvements and risk mitigation

  • Provide feedback and recommend disciplinary actions to non-compliant service providers

  • Support Airport Manager during peak travel seasons and irregular operations

  • Compile and maintain weekly performance statistics across departments

  • Lead and mentor Supervisors, airport staff, and service providers

  • Act as Airport Manager delegate in their absence

Training Responsibilities

  • Deliver training sessions to ground handlers, FlySafair ticket agents, and call centre staff

  • Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching to uplift service delivery standards

  • Train staff on customer service best practices, including telephone and face-to-face etiquette

  • Conduct training for updated FlySafair policies, procedures, and T&Cs

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Passenger Services Manual updates

  • Strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders through consistent communication

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 / Matric – Essential

  • Relevant Diploma or Degree – Advantageous

  • Assessor and Moderator qualifications – Advantageous

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Passenger/Customer Services Duty Manager – Essential

  • Proven experience in airport operations and customer service

  • Knowledge of airline systems and processes

  • Strong computer literacy and ability to use operational systems

  • Excellent planning, leadership, and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to assist with irregular operations and work under pressure

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities

  • Strong administrative and problem-solving skills
