Role Overview
Ackermans is hiring P27 Shop Assistants/Cashiers in Kagiso, Soweto, and Roodepoort. This temporary role is designed to provide additional retail support during busy periods. If you’re driven, energetic, and passionate about providing excellent customer service, this opportunity offers the perfect chance to gain valuable experience in the retail sector. You’ll be expected to assist with stock replenishment, sales floor merchandising, and processing customer transactions while maintaining a professional and welcoming attitude.
Key Responsibilities

Attend to customer queries and handle complaints professionally

Guide shoppers to locate products and promotions
💳 Cashier Duties

Process cash, card, and lay-by transactions efficiently

Manage customer refunds and exchanges

Perform till balancing and report discrepancies to supervisors
🧾 Merchandising and Stock

Ensure that merchandise is correctly priced and neatly displayed

Maintain product availability and restock shelves as needed

Keep the store clean, organized, and in line with promotional layouts
🔒 Risk and Compliance

Tag merchandise per company policy

Participate in stock counts and loss prevention

Remain vigilant against shoplifting and report suspicious behaviour to management

Qualifications and Experience
📘 Educational Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric is essential
💼 Experience and Skills

Previous retail or cashier experience is advantageous but not required

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Ability to speak English fluently (other languages are a plus)

High energy, goal-oriented mindset, and attention to detail

Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and public holidays
