Role Overview
As the Civil Maintenance Foreman, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating civil maintenance projects on site, ensuring operations run efficiently, safely, and within budget. This role demands hands-on supervision of workers and subcontractors, effective resource management, and the enforcement of construction and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering maintenance, project oversight, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise internal civil teams and contractors to ensure effective project execution

Assign tasks and monitor progress in line with defined timelines

Communicate regularly with silo managers and stakeholders

Conduct contractor oversight, manage inspections and sign-offs

Maintain accurate site records, reports, and budget tracking
-
Enforce Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) compliance across work sites
-
Perform on-site inspections and implement corrective measures for safety risks

Ensure high-quality work standards and prevent damage to personnel or assets

Coordinate material use, workforce deployment, and project planning
-
Provide ongoing staff motivation, discipline, and skills development

Track and report on progress, safety incidents, and deviations

Collaborate with subcontractors and ensure efficient resource utilization

Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a safety-first culture
Qualifications and Experience
-
Grade 12 certificate
-
N3 Certificate in Civil Engineering – required
-
Fundamentals of Project Management certification – advantageous
-
Minimum 3 years of site supervision experience in construction

Grain silo maintenance experience – beneficial
-
Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and safety standards
Technical Competencies

Excellent understanding of civil maintenance and general facilities upkeep

Solid knowledge of the OHS Act and its application in the workplace

Project management fundamentals (planning, budgeting, execution)

Record-keeping and maintenance-specific administrative experience

Proficient in MS Office Suite

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Familiarity with Rail and Safety Regulations

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
