Role Overview
The Handy Man role at FNB is ideal for individuals who enjoy practical, hands-on work and take pride in maintaining functional, safe, and clean spaces. Based in Johannesburg, this position involves conducting routine repairs, inspections, and minor installations across FNB’s facilities. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity and presentation of buildings while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Perform general repairs on site including minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work

Conduct regular inspections to identify areas that require maintenance

Handle the repair and installation of furniture, fittings, drywall panels, shelves, counters, cabinets, and more

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting, cleaning, and checking building equipment

Monitor and report on the condition of tools and materials, ensuring timely replacements where needed

Follow all safety regulations and company protocols while performing duties

Ensure maintenance logs and service records are accurately updated

Communicate effectively with staff, contractors, and management to coordinate repair schedules

Respond promptly to internal requests for maintenance assistance
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
-
Completion of a Handyman training course is advantageous
-
Minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in general building maintenance or a similar role

Working knowledge of hand and power tools, plumbing, electrical basics, and construction techniques

Good understanding of occupational health and safety practices

Basic computer literacy and ability to use MS Office and/or maintenance tracking systems

Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot issues on the spot
