Role Overview

The Executive Relationship Manager will serve as a strategic partner to Discovery Invest’s top-tier advisers. This role involves proactively managing adviser relationships, promoting new business, maintaining retention, and ensuring a premium service experience. You will be responsible for understanding advisers’ business goals, offering tailored support, and helping them align with Discovery Invest’s objectives. This is a pivotal position where relationship-building, strategic thinking, and problem-solving come together to deliver measurable results.

Key Objectives

  • Act as a primary liaison for top-performing advisers and ensure consistent, reliable communication.

  • Build a foundation of trust and value with advisers and their internal teams.

  • Understand advisers’ business strategies and align support to help them achieve their goals.

  • Collaborate internally to ensure high-quality service delivery across all client touchpoints.

  • Contribute directly to business growth by supporting adviser-led initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage ongoing relationships with top advisers and act as a key point of contact

  • Conduct regular in-person and virtual meetings with advisers

  • Analyze adviser portfolios, performance data, and identify growth opportunities

  • Ensure Discovery Invest’s value proposition is clearly understood and well-represented

  • Provide service recovery and resolution of complex queries or escalations

  • Present Discovery’s position on evolving industry regulations and compliance matters

  • Partner with specialists to deliver adviser-aligned strategies, presentations, and client solutions

  • Keep up to date with trends in investment platforms, fund performance, and market dynamics

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the broader Invest team

  • Handle sensitive transactions with integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism

Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • A completed BCom degree or related financial qualification

  • At least 5 years of experience in the investment industry

  • Minimum of 3 years in adviser relationship management or a related client-facing role

  • Experience in operational areas such as onboarding, servicing, and investment processing

  • Presentation and public speaking experience

  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, including FAIS and RE5 requirements

  • In-depth product knowledge of both local and international investment vehicles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Compass and Paradigm systems

  • RE qualification (Regulatory Exam)

  • Proficiency in Afrikaans as an additional language

Skills and Competencies

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to manage complex stakeholder interactions

  • Analytical and data-driven mindset with strong problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
