Job Overview
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Assistant (Retail) to join our team at the Norkem branch in Kempton Park. This role is an integral part of daily operations in-store and is responsible for supporting key functions such as receiving stock, merchandising, cleanliness, teamwork, and maintaining safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
Stock Receiving and Off-loading
– Assist with the receiving of deliveries from suppliers
– Ensure accurate unpacking and checking of goods against invoices
– Move and organize stock in appropriate storage areas
Pre-Packing and Merchandising
– Prepare and pre-pack items for placement on shelves and fridges
– Maintain excellent product presentation and shelf appearance
– Monitor product expiry dates and rotate stock effectively
Cleaning and Housekeeping
– Keep the store clean and tidy at all times
– Ensure fridges, shelves, floors, and stockrooms are properly maintained
– Follow safety and hygiene protocols daily
Inventory and Reporting
– Participate in inventory counts and assist with monthly stocktakes
– Report missing, damaged, or expired products to management promptly
– Assist with daily reporting of stock levels
Customer Assistance and Teamwork
– Provide courteous assistance to customers as needed
– Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operations
– Collaborate with the store team to meet performance and cleanliness standards
Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualifications
– Matric / Grade 12
– Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English
Competencies and Skills
– Self-motivated and proactive
– Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
– Attention to detail and well-organized
– Reliable and punctual
– Physically fit and able to handle stock movement and lifting
– Excellent verbal communication
