Specialist Software Developer Role Overview
Absa’s Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Technology division is seeking a Specialist Software Developer (.NET) to join the International Payments for PAN Africa team. This role is ideal for a seasoned software engineer with hands-on experience in designing scalable enterprise-grade applications using .NET technologies. The successful candidate will be expected to work in a DevOps environment, lead critical initiatives, and influence digital transformation within the financial services industry.
Specialist Software Developer Key Responsibilities

Deliver clean, organized, and optimized .NET source code to support high-performing financial systems

Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams to solve complex back-end, middleware, or front-end challenges

Implement modern observability practices using tools like Grafana, ELK Stack, and Jaeger

Build and support CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and deploy code across Kubernetes environments
-
Integrate secure, scalable microservices aligned with cloud architecture best practices

Evaluate technical feasibility of requirements and suggest innovative solutions

Conduct thorough code reviews and lead performance optimization efforts

Align software development with Absa’s infrastructure and architecture guidelines

Support application maintenance, monitoring, and updates in production environments

Stay up to date on emerging technologies and guide innovation across platforms
Required Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

5+ years of professional experience in .NET development

Demonstrated technical leadership in agile environments

Advanced knowledge of microservices architecture and DevOps practices

Proficient in SQL (MSSQL), object-oriented design, and enterprise-level systems

Experience with Angular or Blazor frameworks is highly advantageous

Familiarity with Kubernetes tools such as Rancher and Docker

Understanding of event-driven architecture and cloud-native patterns

Exposure to OpenTelemetry is a plus

Strong analytical, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills
