🔧 Role Overview

As a Workshop Assistant, you will support the daily activities of the mechanical workshop. Your primary responsibilities include assisting in basic repairs, maintaining workshop cleanliness, managing tools and equipment, and ensuring compliance with all safety and operational standards. This role is well-suited for someone with a mechanical interest or aptitude, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced technical environment.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• Assist technicians with basic maintenance and mechanical repairs on agricultural and industrial equipment

• Safely load and off-load machinery and parts using appropriate equipment

• Clean tools, machinery parts, and the workshop area before and after service jobs

• Help in organising and storing tools, spares, and consumables

• Perform regular stock counts and assist in identifying inventory shortages

• Keep the workshop and yard clean, tidy, and compliant with health & safety standards

• Dispose of waste materials in line with environmental and operational procedures

• Be available for overtime and weekend shifts when operationally necessary

📋 Qualifications and Skills

To be considered for the Workshop Assistant position, candidates should meet the following criteria:

• Matric / Grade 12 (minimum education requirement)

• Basic mechanical understanding or genuine interest in engineering and tools

• Physically fit with the ability to perform manual labor and heavy lifting

• Strong communication skills in English and/or Afrikaans

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions precisely

• Honest, dependable, and punctual work ethic

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment

• Willingness to comply with all safety and operational protocols

A basic mechanical background, whether through hobby, technical education, or past experience, will be a distinct advantage, although not mandatory.
