🚛 Role Overview

The VKB Milling division is hiring a Driver to be responsible for safe, timely deliveries of food products and materials to VKB customers and facilities. The role involves both physical and administrative responsibilities, from maintaining accurate delivery documentation to crate management and fuel tracking.

The ideal candidate is reliable, professional, and able to work under pressure in a 6-day work week environment, including weekends and public holidays. Your commitment to safe driving, customer service, and team collaboration will directly support VKB’s mission to deliver quality food efficiently across South Africa.

🧾 Key Responsibilities

• Complete on-time product deliveries while ensuring customer satisfaction

• Keep delivery trucks clean and well-maintained at all times

• Report all incidents and accidents immediately to the relevant supervisor

• Handle all Proof of Delivery (POD) documents – ensure they are signed, stamped, and submitted correctly

• Manage and control fuel consumption in alignment with company benchmarks

• Oversee stock loading and offloading to ensure 100% accuracy

• Maintain strict crate/tray control on each delivery and collection trip

• Complete daily vehicle inspection checklists and report mechanical defects

• Accurately maintain trip documentation including fuel slips, toll slips, trip sheets, and checklists

• Provide oversight and support for any crew members on board the truck

• Adhere strictly to all safety, legal, and compliance procedures

🎓 Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 with numerical ability and basic computer literacy

• Valid Code 14 driver’s license with an up-to-date Professional Driving Permit (PDP)

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in truck driving, preferably within the distribution or logistics environment

• Proven knowledge of customer service and on-road delivery operations

• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment across a 6-day schedule

• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays as per the company’s rotation roster

• Clear criminal record is essential
