📊 Role Overview
As a Cashbook Clerk, you will be responsible for processing and reconciling daily cashbook transactions across multiple accounts. This position requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to meet strict deadlines, and effective collaboration with other finance professionals, including Bookkeepers and Accountants.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth banking and reconciliation processes for one of South Africa’s largest entertainment companies.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities

Daily capturing of all bank statements and End-of-Day (EOD) reconciliations

Complete all reconciliations by the 1st and 3rd of every month respectively, adjusting for weekends and public holidays

Liaise with internal auditors on any irregularities or discrepancies during reconciliations

Verify documentation for accuracy, completeness, and validity for both internal and external audits

Prepare monthly bank and EOD reconciliation schedules

Draft journals for review by Bookkeepers and Accountants

Organize and archive financial documentation logically and in a timely manner

Provide support on ad hoc tasks as assigned by financial managers

Ensure clean audit trails and maintain chronological file systems

Assist with the preparation of audit files and responses to audit queries

Actively contribute to automation and innovation of financial processes

Ensure logical saving and backup of all financial templates and records

Adhere to naming conventions and file structure best practices

Maintain proper controls to reduce accounting-related risks

Assist in identifying compliance gaps and recommend improvements

Participate in mandatory finance training sessions

Experience using Pastel Evolution or similar accounting software

Basic understanding of bank reconciliation procedures and financial controls

Prior exposure to finance operations in a corporate environment is an advantage
