Role Overview
The Department of Home Affairs is looking to appoint two highly skilled professionals to the position of Senior Legal Administration Officer (MR6) in the Contracts Directorate. This role is essential in providing legal guidance, drafting and scrutinizing commercial contracts, and ensuring full compliance with applicable legislation.
Key Responsibilities

Draft and review complex commercial contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) to support departmental operations.

Provide high-quality legal opinions and contract advisory services to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risk.

Conduct legal research and develop contract templates and frameworks aligned with public sector standards.

Ensure compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), audit requirements, and internal risk frameworks.

Guide internal clients on legal policies, contract law, and regulatory requirements.

Supervise and support legal officers and junior staff in managing legal documentation and interpretation.

Contribute to organizational transformation through digital innovation and streamlined legal processes.
Qualifications and Experience
-
An LLB degree (NQF Level 7) as recognized by SAQA.

A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification legal experience, of which at least 5 years must include experience in drafting commercial contracts.

Proven knowledge of South Africa’s Constitution and relevant public service legislation.

Familiarity with the PFMA, government procurement procedures, and SLA management is highly desirable.

Willingness to work extended hours and travel when required.

Salary Package

Competitive remuneration aligned with the Occupational Specific Dispensation (OSD) framework for legally qualified professionals

Salary range: R556,356 – R1,314,666 per annum
(Depending on years of experience and applicable OSD guidelines)
