Role Overview
The Quality Assurance Controller plays a critical role in ensuring that all products, services, and processes meet defined quality standards and client expectations. This position is pivotal in setting quality objectives, implementing control systems, evaluating performance, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance across production or service delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing inspections, supporting risk and compliance initiatives, contributing to quality system development, and ensuring that internal and external stakeholder expectations are met or exceeded.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, the Quality Assurance Controller will be tasked with business and functional management responsibilities that include inspecting product samples using industry-appropriate methods such as measurement, dimensional comparison, and functionality testing. The controller will ensure that production lines and assembly operations conform to established standards, blueprints, and legal requirements.
On the financial and commercial side, the candidate will assist in preparing monthly valuations with the Senior Superintendent, Resident Engineer, and client. This includes reviewing specifications, adjusting production processes, operating inspection equipment, and measuring materials to ensure cost-efficient quality control.
From a risk and compliance perspective, the Quality Assurance Controller will identify potential commercial risks, develop appropriate responses, and implement controls to mitigate risk exposure. This also involves ensuring environmental, social, and governance (ESG) compliance in accordance with both project and corporate requirements.
As a key liaison between operational teams and external stakeholders, this individual will maintain strong relationships with both client representatives and internal support structures. Professional and consistent engagement with senior management and compliance officers is essential.
The controller will be expected to analyze outcomes, compile detailed progress and cost reports, and perform daily site measurements. These efforts support accurate month-end billing and project documentation. Additionally, the controller will physically measure off-plan work to ensure accurate reporting of quantities and outputs.
From a technical standpoint, the successful candidate will collect and process task-specific information into the computer system, while also evaluating and implementing updated technological tools to enhance quality management. The role requires setting up and maintaining a robust quality and process control system tailored to site-specific requirements.
In terms of SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) management, the individual must be familiar with relevant health and safety regulations and ensure their team complies. The controller will also be expected to address and rectify any non-conformance in line with Fraser Alexander’s SHEQ protocols.
Finally, this role includes staff management responsibilities, such as leading, mentoring, and directing subordinates to meet performance objectives. The Quality Assurance Controller will also be accountable for the effective implementation of the company’s Performance Management framework and will play a key role in building internal capacity through staff coaching and development.

A minimum of three years’ experience in a related field is required, particularly in mining, industrial services, or process-based industries.
Skills, Qualities, and Competencies
Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and radiographs. Strong risk management, time management, and problem-solving skills are essential.
