Role Overview
As the Store Manager, you will be entrusted with overseeing all aspects of store performance, including financial growth, customer satisfaction, asset protection, staff development, and compliance with legislation and company policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, sound business acumen, and a passion for delivering excellence in the retail space.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Operational Management

Develop and implement the store’s business plan aligned with divisional goals.

Drive profitability and protect market share through effective sales strategies.

Monitor key metrics and performance targets, making data-driven decisions to improve operations.

Identify local market trends and competitor movements, implementing counter-strategies to maintain competitiveness.
Customer Service and Experience

Implement customer-centric initiatives to enhance service delivery.

Ensure adherence to service excellence standards, including the management of delivery services and VIP client engagement.

Monitor and address customer complaints, ensuring quick and effective resolutions.
Human Resources and Leadership

Oversee recruitment, training, and succession planning within the store.

Foster a positive working environment and open communication through employee engagement and team forums.

Manage performance, conduct coaching sessions, and handle all HR-related matters including discipline, ER, and labour compliance.
Sales and Marketing
-
Ensure achievement of store sales targets, customer transaction growth, and marketing objectives.

Collaborate with merchandising teams to optimize product assortment and visual displays.

Implement loyalty programs, in-store promotions, and community-based marketing.
Asset and Inventory Control

Safeguard stock, fixed assets, and cash through rigorous compliance with loss control policies.

Conduct routine audits, enforce shrinkage prevention methods, and manage all trade licenses.

Manage ordering, receiving, and clearing of obsolete, slow-moving, or damaged stock.
Compliance and Health & Safety

Ensure store compliance with local health and safety regulations (OHSA).

Appoint and manage OHSA representatives, conduct safety audits, and investigate incidents.

Maintain proper housekeeping, facility upkeep, and hazard-free store environments.
Financial and Expense Management

Control store expenses to meet budget requirements.

Submit monthly reports on financial performance, insurance claims, and cost-saving initiatives.

Maintain documentation and liaise with insurance providers where necessary.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 with at least 3 years of retail management experience (or 5 years without Matric).

Strong leadership and administrative skills.

Sound understanding of business processes and retail operations.

Computer literate and proficient in MS Office.

Own reliable transport and a valid driverβs license.

Working knowledge of OHSA and labor legislation.

Own mobile phone for operational use.
