Role Overview
As a Cashier, you will be responsible for accurate Point of Sale (POS) operations, ensuring all transactions are correctly processed and customer satisfaction is prioritized. You will manage all monetary transactions, documentation, and ensure that stock is not released unless paid for. You will also play a key role in maintaining the integrity of cash handling procedures and safety protocols in-store.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling

Accurately process all POS transactions with zero tolerance for shortages or overages.

Identify and scan all items correctly at checkout.

Accept and record the appropriate payment method (cash, card, credit) from customers.

Maintain adequate change and perform accurate cash-ups at the end of each shift.

Deposit all takings securely into the Drop Safe/vault.

Handle other store-related payments such as deliveries, quotes, and transfers responsibly.
Administrative Duties
-
Complete, sign, and file all required cashier-related documentation as per company policy.

Ensure transaction records are accurate and available for audit purposes.
Customer Service

Deliver prompt, courteous, and efficient service to all customers.

Assist with customer queries at checkout and direct customers to relevant personnel when needed.

Uphold company standards in grooming and dress code.
Safety and Security
-
Adhere to OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) protocols for both customer and employee well-being.

Report any irregularities or incidents to the Store Manager immediately.

Maintain till-point security and ensure passwords and cash handling procedures are strictly followed.
Store Readiness
-
Follow “Ready for Business” procedures to ensure till-points and workstations are fully prepared at shift start.

Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of cashier or point-of-sale experience.

Strong communication skills in English and the dominant local language.

Basic numeracy and calculation accuracy.

Excellent administrative and organizational skills.

Ability to work weekends, shifts, and public holidays.

Able to remain calm and professional under pressure.
