Role Overview
RH Rand Clinic is seeking six (6) Registered Nurses who are Psychiatric qualified to join our dedicated team in providing holistic care to patients in a mental health facility. Reporting directly to the Unit Manager, the successful candidates will play a vital role in supporting the daily clinical functions of the psychiatric unit. This position is ideal for compassionate, motivated, and skilled nurses with a strong background in psychiatric care and a passion for making a difference in mental health treatment.

Key Responsibilities
As part of the psychiatric nursing team, the appointed professionals will be expected to deliver a high standard of care, ensuring that patient safety and recovery are prioritised. Key duties include:

Quality Patient Care: Deliver safe, empathetic, and evidence-based nursing care tailored to psychiatric patients. Foster a therapeutic environment conducive to mental health and healing.

Effective Communication: Provide patients and their families with accurate and compassionate information related to hospitalization, treatment plans, and expected outcomes.

Care Coordination: Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, and social workers to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care.

Daily Care Rounds: Conduct and document daily ward rounds, identify potential patient concerns early, and ensure concerns are addressed timeously.

Complaint Management: Respond to and investigate patient or family complaints swiftly and professionally, promoting a positive healthcare experience.

Micro-Orientation for Staff: Assist in onboarding new team members with department-specific micro-orientation to ensure consistent standards and practices.

Resource Management: Help reduce stock wastage by ensuring responsible use of medical supplies and assist in maintaining equipment in good working condition.

Stand-by and Emergency Support: Be available to respond to call-outs when on standby and assist with any emergency care as needed.
Requirements
To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Professional Registration: Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.

Qualification: Psychiatric Nursing qualification is mandatory.

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a private healthcare setting as a Registered Nurse.

Must have practical experience in a psychiatric facility.

Additional Requirements:

Own reliable transport is essential.

Must be available for standby duties and call-outs when required.

Computer literacy and the ability to work with hospital information systems.
