Role Overview
As a Distribution Manager, you will be at the heart of optimizing the movement of products within the supply chain. Your role will go beyond simply ensuring the quick transport of goods from one location to another; you will be responsible for detailed planning and execution to mitigate risks and challenges. The role includes monitoring marketplace dynamics, leveraging opportunities to enhance competitiveness, and driving growth. Fleet management is a key component of the role, ensuring that service levels are optimized at the most cost-effective prices. You will be responsible for achieving sales targets, enhancing customer satisfaction, and maintaining operational efficiency within the distribution network.
Key Responsibilities

Resource and Process Management: Ensure the efficient use of distribution resources, implement stringent procedures and controls to reduce losses, and guarantee the integrity of products throughout the bakery and depot processes.

Route Profitability: Conduct regular reviews of route profitability and work toward achieving the most cost-effective cents per kilometer for the business.

Sales Support: Manage debrief processes at the bakeries to ensure that sales teams have accurate and up-to-date information, which in turn helps to maintain the highest levels of customer service.

Fleet Management: Oversee fleet management to ensure optimal service delivery at minimal costs, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Performance Metrics: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) that align with overall business goals, driving performance across the distribution team.

Customer Satisfaction: Focus on delivering high levels of customer satisfaction, ensuring that the distribution network supports the company’s commitment to quality service.

Qualifications and Experience

Education: A Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

Experience: At least 5 years of distribution experience in the bread baking industry, with 3 years in a management role.

Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to drive continuous improvement, ensuring operational efficiency and quality standards in a manufacturing or distribution environment.

Experience in managing resources and teams to meet sales and customer service goals.

Proficiency in managing fleet operations, safety procedures, and cost control measures.
