Role Overview:
BUCO Nelspruit is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Stock Controller to ensure accurate inventory management, timely stock replenishment, and consistent product availability. The Stock Controller will be instrumental in maintaining optimal stock levels, minimizing shrinkage, ensuring bin accuracy, and supporting stock take processes. Key Responsibilities:
Stock Monitoring and Reporting:

Regularly check and analyze stock reports to monitor availability and turnover

Identify and investigate stock-outs and assess the cost implications
-
Monitor and action negative stock balances to ensure system accuracy
-
Run reports including “no stock, no demand” and deletion reports for review and action
Stock Variance and Reconciliation:
-
Validate and clear stock variances by investigating discrepancies
-
Provide variance data to Operators during the 8-week stock cycle
-
Assist with preparation and analysis of cycle counts and full stock takes
-
Maintain accurate and organized bin locations for all stock items
Loss Control and Risk Management:

Investigate and manage bad-risk stock items or slow-moving inventory
-
Ensure that all existing stock is correctly binned and accounted for
-
Supervise implementation of loss control measures where applicable

Support measures to minimize stock loss through careful planning and auditing
Supplier Returns and Stock Flow:

Manage the supplier return process to ensure timely and accurate returns
-
Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to replenish stock
-
Assist in ensuring smooth flow of stock from receiving to dispatch
-
Support logistics and receiving processes by maintaining correct stock documentation
Process Improvement and Systems Support:

Help streamline internal stock control systems and procedures
-
Work with digital tools to input, track, and analyze stock performance
-
Provide clear variance reporting to relevant operational stakeholders
-
Continuously monitor stock performance trends to inform future decisions
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
-
Grade 12 / Matric
-
Minimum of 3 years stock control experience in a retail, warehouse, or distribution environment

Alternatively, a Certificate in Retailing (NQF 5) or Certificate in Retail Operations Management (NQF 5)

If no formal qualification, completion of at least 3 of the following skills programmes:

Supervise stock counts

Manage stock holding procedures in a retail/wholesale outlet

Replenish stock
-
Move, pack, and maintain stock
-
Receive or dispatch stock in a distribution center

Pick stock
-
Count stock for stock takes
-
Implement loss control
-
Understand bottom-line retail impacts

Key Skills and Competencies:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities

Proficient in stock control systems and Microsoft Office suite

Ability to interpret inventory reports and variance data
